Eastern Cape Premier Phumlo Masualle delivered an inspiring message to stakeholders comprising local and provincial government, business, business chambers and state-owned entities about Buffalo City and the Eastern Province being ready to host world class events such as the proposed BRICS meeting which will be hosted by Buffalo City in May 2018. He stated that the city and province has successfully hosted international delegations and conferences. Premier Masualle emphasised that the proposed BRICS meeting 2018 presented a unique opportunity for Buffalo City to showcase its potential, its diversity, culture and to position the metro as a competitive city serious about business.
The Premier also stated that the provincial government would support the metro and also encouraged a more strategic approach to ensure that potential opportunities were maximised. The proposed meeting should also enable the creation of strategic partnerships with businesses in BRICS. The Premier said the metro must be geared to accommodate all sectors and have to ensure that all interest groups including women and youth were represented . Stakeholders were reminded of the competitive edge port cities had and the importance of positioning Buffalo City as a gateway to the world, by thinking global and acting local.
